Rock Lake with Singh Ray Filter

A while back I purchased the Gold n Blue Singh Ray filter, so I decided to try it out on some other shots and I was not happy with the results to be honest and thought it would be a lot better then it was. But again, this filter needs the proper camera settings and you cannot push it, in which I did neither, so it was an end user issue and not the filter. But I found that this is a filter that you won't use unless the right conditions are available for the right shot.

So I started to play around with a couple of test shots and I was happy with the one more so than the other, although the one with more gold tone could be a lot less and I think it may have worked better. So your comments likes dislikes about these images and the use of the filter.

I know I like the second one the best here... Heydon't think to long as there is no need to smell wood burning in this part of town.

The first shot with the filter does not work. It is too flat in colour. ( all the same colour) Perhaps if you used a graduated filter, the results would have been better.
The second shot is much better. Try cropping most of the sky away. I did this with by holding a piece of paper in front of the image, and to me it looks better. The sky is static, just blue, without clouds. Nothing to hold your eye. Cropping the sky forces you to look at the horizon and lake.

I think you have a point with cropping out most of the sky in that second image, will have a look at this one again and see how that works. I like some of the colours in that one as well. As for the first one it is flat, there is nothing there to hold your eyes onto. Thanks I will look at that file later on.
