Forks Of The Credit River #1

Was out with Peter and Roger and went to the Badlands first and then head over to the Forks Of The Credit.
These images had been taken with the Cameron Fader ND filter. The one thing that I learned when I looked at this images is the shutter speeds could be less on some of the images. What I mean is that the water is more milky looking with longer exposures in the 20 second and below to 8 seconds. What I found is that at 2 to 5 second exposure would have been enough. But will need to test this out the next time going to the Forks of the Credit again. I still like the results I got, and have to say that a little fine tuning is all that is needed.

These images were shot with Nikon D700 and the 24-70mm lens.

Some more nice work. How fast was the water running? The filter does a nice job. did you have the filter dialed in the highest setting?
I think this filter work be a fun tool to have taking sunset shots at the beach....in Florida.
You can come with me...only if you bring the filter :653:

Thanks very much Don for the kind words. In the top image the water was flowing hard near the rock in the middle, the others the water was not flowing that hard, in fact you could stand there no problem.
No the filter was never dialed in at MAX for any of the images I took that day. What I thought would be a good number was a 20 second exposure and down to 6 seconds and they all produced a good effect, to get more texture in the water would be around 2 to 3 seconds. In these images the exposure times are 15,13 and 10 seconds, so you can see that you can still drop the times even more and get a nice effect of the water flow.

I think that down in Florida these filter would be great on a beach and yes I would bring it with me.

Hi Larkspur. Thanks for the comments on this series and I have to say that I like that one as well, just something about that one that catches my eye.

I did a search as well for you and it seems that these filters come by different names. I should point out I found that the Cameron Filter is 1-8 f/stops and not 10 as I thought, but still works very well. OK I found one that is at B&H Photo that is the same as the Cameron filter. The one that you want here is the Light Craft one for $125.00, the ones at the top of the page are just too much money, scroll down to the middle of the page and you will see the Light Craft Filter. This is the very same as the one I have.

Here is the link for you ---> Light Craft Fader ND
