    Countryside (winter)

I have not been able to take much picture this winter. The weather, lighting has to coincide with a weekend for me now. That actually forced me to learn more about CS5. Now I am getting better at the color adjustments and hdr. This Sunday was sunny in the afternoon and I drove to the countryside. Its an hdr of 3 exposure. I really like the way the snow makes the landscape and the rays of setting sun over the snow. There are lots of details in the bigger version. But I am not able to post bigger size here.

Santosh, I had a real hard time deciding on this image. First of all let me say that I really like the lighting in this image as well the placement of the trees in the compoistion here, but I struggle with the amount of sky here, my take is the on this would be to crop above the white clouds above the trees. As you know this is all subjective for everyone, and others may find that they like this and others may have the same thoughts as I do, so it will be interesting to see what others have to say. But still a nice capture and glad to see you posting again and looking forward to seeing more.

I'm impartial on this one. I do like it, it is maybe just a little too much sky for me or its the rolling of the landscape that doesn't match the sky... just something about it I like and something about it I don't. Maybe a touch more contrast on the clouds to make them pop a bit more would bring your eye from top to bottom? But what do I know, I've been shooting with an iPhone for the last two weeks!

Santosh, I fixed the image for you to the larger one. The problem is that you are using the URL for the medium size image, if you select the 'O' for the original size and use that URL the image will be larger on here. It is the same sort of thing on Flickr as well. So the issue is from your side of things Grin.... Rookie`s

I first looked at this picture last night, just after you posted it. I was not sure what my thoughts are. One time I look at it, and don't like all the sky, the next time, I don't mind it. If you printed it, and found the right wall, it might work

Thank you all for the thoughts. Surprisingly almost everyone saw this had this same reaction. At first they said they didnt like the sky but when I showed them the larger version, they said they might like it ! Don, I was just thinking of printing it large as you said and see how it looks. When I was composing it, I didnt want to do the contemporary style of less sky and landscape mode. I did it deliberately. I might go back if another good day comes and shoot it horizontal and see. However, I always highly appreciate your inputs. As a photographer, I might just be just be excited with being there. So other person's inputs are very important which, makes me think the other way. So thank you once again.
Dennis, I put the larger version's url there. I will look what I am doing wrong.:hmm:

Santosh, I agree with your statement and going outside the box is worth trying even if the feedback is a bit negative, it is something that you felt doing at the time and for me the rules are meant to be broken from time to time. As for this image, I knew that it would be a flip flop on the comments as it was for me as well. The best thing out of this as you mentioned is the input from others and the way that they see your image, and that feedback guides you to approach it in another way. Maybe all that this image needs is a bit of a crop from the top?

As for the larger version to post it is easy once you go to your site and you will see what I mean and problem solved.

Glas to see the feedback from others as well on your image.
