    Yellow Crown Night Heron

I stumbled across this YCNH in a park that has been closed for the last couple of years. Parts of it are now open.
The YCNH was in this same spot in pervious years.

Don, this is a sweet shot with the neck out fully, nice eye contact and the background is great and makes this bird stand out.

    Thanks Dennis
As you can see, the sun was directly behind the YCNH, and I used my flash to "get something".... I am pleased and surprised how well it turned out. I am playing around with my flash more..trying to improve my skills.

Your are more than welcome Don. I noticed that the flash was used on this image, but I was surprised with the how the image worked in this case. What ever you are doing seems to be working very well for you and you should be very pleased with this shot, I know I would be.

Another nice shot here Don, my only little nit would be to crop a bit off the bottom.

Nice capture. The flash provided a pleasing result. I have always debated about whether it should be used for this type of photography.

I agree this is an amazing shot that you took here Don, and I think I would also crop a bit of the bottom. They sure are a neat looking bird, and they always seem to have that funny look to them.

I really liked how you photographed this bird and love the fact that you got the head feathers sticking out.
