    Winter Surprise

I went out to the park again today, meeting up with Joe. The weather was a lot better when we got down there, then it was the day before. We found this bird in a tree and I guess the heron figured he would brave the winter weather.

Brian, great capture and close up and love the nice eye contact. I would wonder if this one was a later bloomer with it parents and the concern I have is will the bird make it through the rest of the winter here. I hope that the ice will not frezze up to much to allow this bird to eat.

Thanks Dennis. We were certainly surprised to see it, and it may be a late bloomer, as we did see one at another park, very late in fall. The way the winter has been this year, it should be able to find open water to be able to survive the rest of the season.

I thank you all for the comments. The sun hitting the eye certainly made all the difference in this shot.
