Hello Birders,
I made a list of websites to help people ID birds. I thought you might want to see them:

If you have other sites, please feel free to post them in here for others.
  1. My favorite eNature: America's Wildlife Resource
  2. Search for a bird by entering name, description, and keywords, All About Birds, Cornell Lab of Ornithology
  3. Patuxent Bird Identification InfoCenter
This is a good site to help ID Sharp-shinned Hawk and Cooper's Hawk. I have used this for several years now.

Tricky Bird IDs: Black-capped Chickadee and Carolina Chickadee

My 7 ways to help identify birds are :

1. Size
2. Colors
3. Habitat,
4. Location
5. Behavior
6. Sound (Some birds are more easily identified by sound, (Flycatchers for example).
7. Time of year (summer, fall, winter or spring)
If all else fail then I have friends at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and at several Audubon societies that can help.
