I think you are close eough to the Tulips without the tubes. I like the backgrounds on both photos, which you would loose with the tubes

Well it does work well with the bigger flowers and I just felt that I wanted to get in closer. But the extension tubes would allow that, but at a cost of shallow DOF, which means that the apreture would have to be way down and could be a problem even in good lighting and tripod would be needed. Something to still think about, but no hurry in getting these.
