Adobe puts the screws on tight!

    Hello All,

Well I received an email from Glen today who happened to find an article that most of you should be aware of.

Adobe business model has change. Right now Adobe used to allow you to upgrade 3 versions back, well not any more and in fact if you are thinking of upgrading in the new year and you have CS4 and are going to upgrade to CS6 well you are not going to be happy at all. They are offering a 20% discount to upgrade your CS4 to CS5 I checked their site and that was $199.99 less 20%. And in the new year when CS6 is released there is another cost to you of another $199.99, ouch! that just has to hurt.

This business model change is not fair to the little guys that use their software for their digital imaging, in fact I think their sales are up because of the photographer's using products like photoshop to make easy changes to images better than any other version of PS in the past. I think their sales will drop with this change in the coming year or years if they continue with this model.

I'm current with my version, but are you? Elements and Capture NX are alternative products to use? Read the link below for full story.

Oh man this is bad news, as I have CS4 and can't afford the double dip. I was waiting for the new version to update but not now.

Wayne sorry to hear that you are one of the people caught in the middle, and I agree that it is like double dipping here and I don't like this idea more than you do. My take is that Adobe should have allowed the upgrade process to go back 3 versions and offer this for a limited time after the release of CS6. But the way it is now is a hard pill to swallow.

I agree with you on this Tom. It will be a wait and see, what and how Adobe will deal with this.

I also am not happy about Adobe's behaviour. It has a lot of people really stuck.....me included. I never have seen enough improvements to make a jump with each release, but we are now being forced to by a product, that we don't want right now. I am very disapointed in Adobe.
