Here at ICURDigital photography we try to encourage new photographers to get involved and post their images on our site.

The best way to learn is to ask questions that you don't understand about photography no matter how stupid you may think of the question, this is the only way that you will learn is by asking. This can be from camera settings, to camera questions to post processing your images, should I shoot RAW or JPEG. On ICURDigital there is a great group of members here that will help find yours answers to your questions, but again all you need to do is not be shy and ask away. Another great way to learn more is to post your images and let others comment on them even if you don't think that they are good, getting critiques is the best way to improve on your skills and helps you get better each day. Sure you see all the great images posted and you say to yourself wow these are tons better than my images, so what, you can produce great images as well you just need to put in the time and effort to hone on on the skills to make a better picture.

The first thing is that you want to do is read the camera manual, and get to know the camera buttons and settings, if you do this from the get go you will be well off, the second things is to get out of program mode on the camera and use shutter or aperture modes they will give you much better control over all. Once you get used to the camera the next important thing to learn is exposure compensation this will help you produce great exposed images and see your user manual on how this is done. If you still don't understand exposure compensation ask away, post a message and you will find that someone will explain this to you so that you will know how to do this.

Photography captures a moment in time, and one must enjoy taking the camera out and having fun with it and learning as you go to improve your skill level. Each and every day we learn a tip from some else to better our skill levels, and that is the great part of this hobby, that there is always something to learn wither it's about a change in the camera settings to post processing our images, there is always something new that pops up.

Just this weekend I learned from another photographer about about changing the Wimberley head from the right side, to my left side, and he showed me that I would be able to produce sharper images because my arm would help support the Wimberley head with my arm and and my hand on the lens while my other hand supported the camera. I found that this really did help me steady the camera much better than before, now I just need to get used to the setup. You just need to be opened to try others suggestions and ideas and try them, you just never know until you do.

Photography is a fun hobby and the best thing is that you are out walking and getting exercise, fresh air, having fun meeting other photographers, and learning as you go. Even if there is nothing to shoot out there and your out with the others that we have meet in our travels we all share new ideas, and talk photography or just enjoy each others company for the morning.

So, get onto a forum, and ask your question or questions, post your images for others to comment on, take that information to help make you a better photographer down the road. And just have some fun.
