Trying to get the same fan that was in the Drobo local here turned out no one seems to carry the fan in Canada. I could order the fan through the US, but $20.00 US a pop, and decided to see if I can get the same CFM's of the original or better and found Tiger Direct has a B-gears 90mm 78 CFM which is more air flow so I order 2 of them and installed one into the Drobo, a couple of hours running now and no errors and still blowing cool air out the back of the unit. The fan has 3 wires on it, and there is a connector to the power supply inside the PC itself, but on the connector is a 2 pin jumper sort of anyway, and I took those 2 wires from the fan and separated the other wire away and used this on the plug for inside the Drobo connector. Just twisted on the wires from the fan, and there was power and the fan worked right off the bat. Reversed the wires and the fan did no run, so went back to the way it was and installed the fan and put the Drobo back together again, and not putting it through it's pace by backing up my Digital Images over 333 gb plus. Seems that the Drobo is not over heating at this time, and I have a spare if the fan goes again. BTW...$24.99 CDN for the 2 fans.

I agree with you on that, it sure is a nice filter set and does some amazing things. I's still going through the filters and playing around with the software. Will probably order this today, as my demo is about to expire soon, and I can see lots of use with the filters.
Wow Dennis, this sure brings out the details and the colours in this.
Dennis, thanks for the information on saving money. I went and downloaded the demo of Colour Efex 4 and posted an image on your system already using it and I see that it is $200 for the software so just need to time to pick a time to do a course online with them.
Important Update! Please start out with a simple rating system with new images, Blank or zero to keep, and a rating of 1 delete. I had made the mistake a couple of years ago of adding more ratings and when I went through all my images to see what I can delete recently and forgot about it, so when it came to deleting the images I remove the Zero rating and left all the others on not thinking of the other ratings. Well I lost a bunch of images for good (Just one folder) that I know of. So keep it simple is the best way. One other change that I made and that is I use Mirror Folder which copies any new images from my hard drive to the Drobo and the Home Server and this is set for real time, so those images I lost were gone from both of the backup systems. Now I have setup the HomeServer to backup every 14 days and the Drobo is still Real Time. Just in case I make a mistake I can at least recover from it.

Also I don't understand the IPTC thing? Wayne, think of it as making it easy to find your images using key-wording. So when you search for an image you can locate it with the keywords that you have added. An example: Wildlife, Birds, Hawks, Red-tail So what happens is when you do a search for Red-tail for example than the images that have the word Red-Tail in it will show up in the search on your display. I use Lightroom and one thing I found was that it needs coma delimit. I made the mistake in Photo Mechanic that it was not the format that LR wanted and would not show up right, now I'm trying to fix what I did wrong.
Dennis, this is an in-depth Blog that is really useful for me as if you remember I had asked about this in a message. Thanks for taking the time in writing this article out this is going to be a real help to me and I will be starting the process of cleaning up my images on the weekend. I thank you for your efforts put forth in sharing this with us.
You have me thinking about this now. As I said I keep all my images and when I see that you deleted thousands of images hit home for me. Also I don't understand the IPTC thing?
From the link, you bought the RS-7 model?
I used this on the D700 as this is the one that I used for landscapes and I have to say that I was really happy with this product in every way, you don't even fell the weight of the camera off to your side and I have the 14-24mm, 24-70mm and the 70-200mm lens on it it felt just perfect on the trails that I went on, and it is very secure as long as you lock the strap hook device down. This is just a perfect thing to keep your hands free when on hikes, and you can lock the camera in place to your side. Well worth having with me, and worth checking out if you hike a bit... A great purchase for the Algonquin Park trip. Thanks Glen for mentioning this strap to me, The reviews were great and hearing from some one you know helps with the decision making, as I mentioned I seen this about two months ago and thought it was neat, but never went further on it, but read tons a reviews and most love the setup.
A word of caution! When using filters like the fader or polarizing filters or any other types that you need to rotate, that you remember that you must rotate that filter in the same direction that you screwed in the filter into the lens. Otherwise the filter can come off the lens and fall to the ground and or in the water. If you follow this simple rule you will never loose the filter.
Update: The Cameron filter seems to be available in Canada and not in the USA. I also found that there are other brands out there that do the same thing and if you are in the USA here is the link to B&H Photo of the Light Craft filter. B&H Photo
Just a little correction that this is a 2 to 8 f/stop filter.
Yes I have to say the same Don, this was a tough image to work on, and the fastest way to edit this image was through Light Zone. Photoshop required a lot of work to get the same results, I just wished that this was a plugin for PS though but it does work in Lightroom which helps some what. That is the only reason I don't use this software a lot because of no Plugin for PS.
The Lightzone Sw worked well. The colours are a lot better, plus the white balance is more acurate
I have thought about doing the same thing, but using an old frying pan. You can use the handle to move the frying pan and camera around. You can drill a hole in the bottom of the pan and mount a ball head.
One last thought about this is make sure you take a towel with you to wipe of the sand on you before you handle the camera again. Will post results once I pickup a frisbee.
In the next few days I will be looking for videos on how to use the tablet with your images with Photoshop and Capture NX. Not sure what is out there but it would be nice to see how to use this more with our work process.
